Warranty Reimbursement Submissions
What Colorado Dealers Need to Know
July 2026
Colorado dealers are reporting an increase in manufacturer challenges to warranty reimbursement submissions, including additional repair order requests, inconsistent exclusions, and delayed approvals. During a recent CADA webinar, Matthew Groves and Jordan Jankowski of Armatus Dealer Uplift discussed current trends and offered guidance to help dealers protect their reimbursement rights.
Current Trends
Manufacturers are requesting supplemental repair orders more frequently and taking a closer look at dealer submissions. In some cases, they are excluding repairs such as brakes or batteries, changing their interpretation of what qualifies for reimbursement, or attempting to reduce approved rates. Dealers should carefully review every response and challenge decisions that conflict with Colorado law.
Building a Strong Submission
The goal isn’t simply to submit the highest-paying repair orders. Instead, dealers should submit repair orders that accurately reflect consistent customer-pay pricing, particularly if the manufacturer requests additional repair orders from the surrounding 90-day period. Consistency can be just as important as maximizing the initial rate.
Know Your Rights
Colorado law provides important protections for dealers. Unlike many states, manufacturers cannot reduce reimbursement rates simply because they believe a dealer’s pricing is unreasonable compared to nearby dealerships. Reimbursement must be based on the dealer’s actual customer-pay data. Dealers should also carefully review manufacturer calculations, as errors do occur.
Looking Ahead
CADA is monitoring manufacturer practices and evaluating potential legislative updates for the 2027 session to address emerging issues while preserving the protections currently available to Colorado dealers.
